Reintegration Program

Reintegration Program

Operating out of Maison Louise Arbour Centre is the Reintegration Program.

The Reintegration Program, supports both men and women who have mental health diagnoses and who are involved in the justice system.

We provide one-on-one support to help participants stay in the community by connecting them with health care, housing, and social services. Our goal is to address their mental health and justice concerns to help them remain stable and connected to the community.

Community Reintegration Planning Table supports release planning at Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre

A new partnership between Ontario and the Provincial Human Services and Justice Coordinating Committee is creating a person-centered approach to planning for individuals with high or complex needs who are leaving custody at the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre (EMDC). The partnership will support the development and launch of joint ministry-community led Community Reintegration Planning Tables (CRPTs).

The goal of these CRPTs is to ensure a proactive, collaborative, and inclusive plan is in place for consenting individuals who are returning to the community and who need supports from multiple agencies. The plans will include considerations for housing, financial needs, mental health, addictions, health care, and safety and vulnerability.

As one of the first sites for this program, the following organizations will work together at the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre CRPT:

  • Ark Aid Street Mission
  • Atlohsa Family Healing Services
  • Changing Ways
  • City of London, Social and Health Department
  • CMHA Thames Valley Addictions and Mental Health Services
  • Community Services Coordination Network
  • Dale Brain Injury Services
  • Developmental Services Ontario
  • Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre
  • Elgin Ontario Works
  • John Howard Society of London
  • London Cares
  • London Intercommunity Health Centre
  • London Police Services
  • Mission Services of London
  • N’Amerind Friendship Centre
  • Ontario Provincial Police
  • Parkwood Institute (St. Joseph’s Health Care London)
  • Salvation Army Centre of Hope
  • St. Leonard’s Community Services, London & Region
  • St. Thomas-Elgin Social Services
  • West Elgin Community Health Centre
  • Youth Opportunities Limited
  • YWCA St. Thomas Elgin

CRPTs will help build stronger relationships and collaboration between the province, the justice sector, and community partners.  The goal is to improve system coordination, make referral processes easier, and support a better understanding of what each agency can offer. This approach to community reintegration is intended to ensure that individuals with high needs at select adult correctional facilities get access to the resources they need when they are released from custody, including mental health and addiction services, transitional housing, and culturally appropriate supports.
