Peer Power Facilitator
SLCS is currently seeking a Full-Time Peer Power Facilitator for our school-based programs. Peer Power is based in restorative practices and geared to support and empower youth aged 10 – 18 who have been identified as leaders by their educators or may need guidance through intervention and prevention. Peer Power Programming includes leadership, peer-to-peer conflict resolution, peer mediation, communication, confidence building and time to think programming. Peer power promotes a forward thinking emphasis using an activity based learning model.
The successful candidate will have a dynamic and engaging presentation style and is committed to client-centred service to ensure a meaningful experience for participants. You will be expected to liaise with program staff and school board staff/administration on a regular basis to coordinate service delivery and provide updates, feedback and administrative information as required. While facilitating, you will be responsible for the safety and security of the youth and other staff, and are expected to follow all health and safety and risk management requirements as assigned.
You will be skilled at working with clients from diverse populations and contributing to program delivery. You will actively participate in a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all the applicable and regulatory requirements. This position requires significant travel throughout London and region as well as off-site program delivery.
Required Qualifications
- University Degree or minimum 2 year College Diploma from an accredited institution
- 1-3 years relevant work experience
- Valid G Class Driver’s License and access to reliable vehicle
- Standard First Aid/CPR Level C – current
- Candidates who are proficient in both official languages of Canada will be considered an asset

- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to group processes & teamwork
- Experience working with youth from 10 to 18 years of age in an educational setting
- Knowledge of restorative practices
- Mediation/Conflict Resolution skills
- Superior facilitation / presentation skills
- Solid judgment and problem solving skills, particularly in high risk / high stress situations
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
